It does seem they suffered a very random and totally unpredictable engine failure at the 11th hour this morning.

However as Andre seems to be developing a theory of 'A Parker in every port' calls were made &athe final leg was completed on 1 very nice twin 300 Verado red number

They slipped past Boris but I found them having a moment or two to themselves waiting for Poole ILB to escort them in - however it had a shout so things were delayed a little .....

Full marks to the guys and it goes to show with the right weather , boat and some guys in the van as back up its doable - and they weren't exactly taking it easy each day.

While I'm they fancied a snooze and some clothes that weren't waterproof they didn't seem to mind to much being interviewed by the 'not unattractive' lady from I think local TV...

Andre - if you PM me your email . I'll send the pics I have over.

What do you do when you have spent 9 long days on a RIB?
Well you take you family and friends back out to sea on a RIB to celebrate!
We joined the team on our return leg of one of our Safar's and grabbed a few pictures of our two Baltic RIB's having some fun.
Well done to all involved
Steve

The Challenge was completed yesterday so after 10 hard days with 10 to 12 hours under way the Team finally arrived into the Solent. Sadly to us all the engine decided Enough was Enough and the Team with the assistance of SeaStart got to Southampton Dry Stack where a Parker 1000 Baltic SeaSafari Rib was already waiting in the water to take them at high speed to Poole. The photos posted by PeterM show the reception they received.

here are a few taken on the Quayside

Steve / Peter superb shots please send me copies

I do not know the extend of the damage so cannot comment

Many thanks on behalf of the Team for the kind donations given by some RibNet members I very much appreciate this as well.

BBC News

News clip shown on the local BBC News yesterday

BBC News - Watersafe UK rescue team complete round Britain challenge

just click on the Red Parker RIB clip as the other clips show the failed attempt in 2013 which are not relevant now

To watch you should donate unless you are already a supporter of the 999 Challenge RB and have made a donation. This is what I would call “Blackmail”

This is the link to follow

999coastalchallenge - Home

and click on DONATE – JUST GIVING

Your donations are in support of the RNLI and WUKSART

Many thanks on behalf of the Team

The bit about the " blackmail" was only a joke I do hope you have enjoyed following the Challenge and the BBC News clip is the highlights of the event.

Some may find this data of interest especially those planning a Round Britain cruise

This data was given to me by Nigel the 999 Challenge Team Leader

Never Enough is now back at the factory and I have been advised that the damage to the engine was caused by a blockage to one of the lubrication channels . Sod's law it could have happened any time . Anyway since it did, it happen in the best place ie in home waters and not somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

A brand new Mercury Diesel 4.2 (320HP) is now being installed . The delay was coursed by the long delivery of the engine and also the old engine mounts had to be repositioned.

Hopefully the rib will be back in a weeks time . I would have loved to bring the rib back by sea only I cannot spare the time.
