Hp limit on zodiac dinghy

The plate says 4hp limit on my 3m zodiac but I`m thinking 10hp would be nice. I have seen the same boats on youtube running 25hp,what do you think?

Zodiac have always been a bit cautious with the max engine sizes on the sibs. Whats the exact model and how old is it ?

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of running a 10hp 2 stroke, fast enough to have a little fun but not too extreme. Im sifting through ebay and gumtree etc but its slim pickings, lots of rubbish out there.

RIBase
10hp on a non airdeck and only rated to 4hp is asking for trouble. Go get another setup.

OK this is what i have gone for , I just purchased a 7.5 mercury 2 stroke engine i figured not too powerful that it will trouble the transom. I will be looking at the ridged transom straighteners though. Thanks for the advice.

zodiac hp limit

Errr yes and yes. It`s all good and i`m re-sticking the transom this weekend. I will let you know how i get on in Cornwall in a couple of weeks, I will either be back on here with a smug grin or i will eat humble pie and put you on a plinth of wisdom and knowledge,

If you reglue the transom well, that wont be a problem.

Slat floors just arnt designed to plane, although they will get on the plane if you apply enough power. The issue willl be steering because you dont have a keel. If its rough you might also break a few slats or even rip the floor out

I would think you will be back with a smug grin, but I doubt it will last the summer.
