Collected yesterday, fired up today and looking good so far! Not cheap but in good nick. Loving the weight - or lack of it!

Quick question. Manual (2006) states lie face down but later models lie tiller side down. Is this normal?

TIP:

They can be VERY easy to start from cold on VERY little or no choke. As a rough guide, I found that if the block was at "warm afternoon" temperatures (above 15C) then no choke was required. If you use the choke, then the engine will simply flood and refuse to start. Half choke below 15C and only consider full choke around 10C and below. Of course, your's might be different....

Mine seems the same as started lunchtime today - two pulls with choke out, nothing, pushed in and fired up instantly!

it's a 2stroke you can lay it anyway you want, I allways thought is was only a 4stroke you had to lay a certain way up because of the enine oil, had mine out today with a new prop I will post the result's later,

Better lay it down with rear cowl against floor. You should flush engine after use if used at sea, while doing so disconnect fuel hose from engine and let engie die. 2 strokes when not used for some time periods ends barnishing the carb's fuel passages, sticks needle inside, due to 2 stroke oil resdue issue after fuel evaporates from bowl.

Besides, will avoid fuel spills when lying engine on floor or while being transpoorted at any other position that vertical. Not all engines starts same, it's a temp related issue specially 2 strokes.

I was told when running mine out of fule to press the fuel nippel in on the engine while it runs out of fuel to save any extra pressuer on the fuel pum diaphragm, I have also started clearing the fuel line before I connect to tank and engine if it has been stood for a couple of weeks

I too thought you could lay 2 strokes down any side, but will go by manual and lay rear face down.

The engine is designed to lie this way - it has hard points there and no delicate parts - any other side will get damaged unless you cushion it.
