Yes the buns were great, we were there from about 3-4pm.

Another lovely day! Been messing about with different props on the engine and generally exploring the Loch.

We are back home now.

Had a fantastic time at Loch Sween. Nine hours on the water in the SIB according to the hour meter on the engine (TinyTach)

We are going on the canal with it tomorrow.

So did you venture down the loch to castle Sween or the macormacks? Sounds as if you enjoyed my home loch.

No we did not get a chance, as we did a fair bit of mountain biking as well.

I just counted and l have thirty midge bites on my right leg lol....

We were alright all week, but l made the mistake of putting the boat away on Thursday night after a last trip out on it....the sun had gone down and the wind had dropped...l was a sitting duck.

This is indeed the case .. something has changed and I dont know what it is ?

When we were leaving my Highland home once in 1999 .. I looked out of the window in the morning before packing and thought it was pouring with rain .. but it wasnt .. it was midges .. never seen anything like it, and thankfully never since .. I'll spare the detail ... but 90 miles later at inverness I was still slapping the buggers off in the car ....150 after that back in Glasgow the car was still full of them at 10pm at night

Mind you those feckers are pansies compared to clegs .. got bitten by one this afternoon in Glasgow ... although the wee fecker hadnt rekoned on the speed of the Bigmuz7 jab ... he was nailed at the point of insertion ... whilst the strimmer was still at full throttle

Are those the bigger ones? There were a fair few of those about.

I am guessing the bite is worse than a midge? I flicked a couple of them off just as they started to bite.

This what they look like ... normally 9 to 12 mm long some people get a reaction to the bite. They are quite slow fliers though and you can usually feel them land and swat them. The trouble is they land whilst you are moving, so that makes them harder to detect. The second problem is that they will bite through clothes, so if you have a thin shirt on, they will land on that, although fortunately this is not so common, but Ive been bitten this way a few times, by the much hungrier Highland ones
