Roger that.
The boat was about 6km up river from the town of Bella Coola.
(prairie tuber next time you are in the area we should cross paths)

The freezing rain only slowed us down a little today.
Friend John showed up with his '62 TimberJack skidder and we struggled
every mm
but have the boat and what's left of the trailer just in front of my shop.
It was too icy to put the boat any closer.

We took 200 man hours to get it out but that is just what it took

We are going to build a shed around the boat to be able to work on it.
we will be talking with the owner this weekend and see what they want to do next.
cheers
hank

Doing salvage work I have acquired a few boats because I offer the owner the option to pay the bill or sign over the boat.

Once they get a quote on repairs and the salvage bill they really start to weigh the cost.

Was there an insurance company involved?

Maybe I missed it but what is this boat used for?

Interesting railing and ladder on the stern. Might make a interesting dive boat.

just an update

We reported the salvage to Transport Canada and the Receiver of Wrecks
on Feb.16 2011.
The owner didn't respond to TC / RoW letters on April 7 and May 19 2011
so the vessel was released to me in lieu of the salvage and storage expenses
on June 1 2011.

I'm sorry for the guys losses but he didn't show any interest in removing it from the river before we have another "high" water.

I'm going to hire a crane truck and flip the boat upside down and take a fire pump to get all the tons of mud and sticks out.
The 496cu in gas engine is coming out and we have a Nissan I-6 turbo diesel
to go in.

the adventure continues
cheers
