Navionics Card reader for PC

Hi

Wondering if there is anything available that would allow me to sit at home warm and dry and use my Navionics Gold Xl3 cards on my home PC for route planning?

Ouch! Can't you use one of the free Chart Plotter emulators like the ones on the Lowrance web site. Thats what I do with my (older) XL charts. You should be able to get an MMC card reader for less than £20.

Sorry, no. I just downloaded the software and away it went. Perhaps it's the newer type charts?

Good News for Navionics Chart users

I spoke to one of the reps at the Boat show about the new navionics pc software to allow you to use your navionics chart cartridges on your PC for passage planning etc and he sent me an email with the details which i enclose below. looks prommising but i wonder how accurate the release date is :-(

according to http://www.bluev.co.uk/Navionics.htm website it will be £115 and should have been launched on Jan 6th.

email from Navionics

Thank you for contacting Navionics. NavPlanner will be available in the very near future. Also, once it is released, you can check with your local Navionics dealer to find out if they will be carrying NavPlanner or if they can order it for you.

NavPlanner is going to allow you to plan and manage your navigation on your PC at home or office and save directly to a cartridge compatible with your chart plotter. Some key features include:

*View Navionics charts on your PC
*Load, create and save waypoints and routes from and to your compatible media cartridge
*Access and print full data details of your routes and waypoints
*Locate ports with Go-to-Port
*Measure distances and bearing
*Access tide & current, sun & moon rise data
*Easily select full description of all chart objects with "Xplain"
