Yamaha 115 Autolube

I have the chance of getting a Yamaha 115 2002 engine which has been used on the back of a phantom racing boat. It has done around 50 hours.

It has a rev limiter and the guy is adamant that it has never exceeded its maximum RPM as I highlighted that this was my main concern.

I may be able to get the engine for circa £1500.

What do you all reckon?

Buy it, had one for 5 years and was very reliable. Made my 5.25 viper go like a rat out an aquaduct even with seven lads on board. Should use about 8 gallons an hour at speed. Design hasn't changed much in 20 years so lots of spare ones about even if you do wreck a gearbox. I always used good quality 2 stroke oil (quicksilver) in her and did the servicing myself. Nothing complicated.

I got the price wrong Pete the guy actually wants 3,500 for it. I read the advert last night and I was clearly not reading the right bit!

I dont think I would pay that much for it... I know of an Ex Demo 115 eTech thats going for £5k with 10 hours on the clock if I was going to spend 3,500 and still have to rig it myself (new cables etc) I would rather spend the extra for a new engine at that price.
