I luv my Suzuki 140, whisper quiet and goes like a dream IMO.

Has pushed my boat to 45 Knots 1 Up, regularly hit the 40Knot mark even with 180 litres of fuel on board. Cruises at 30 Knots with ease.

Ive seen a test in a french magazine that has clearly shown a big gap between Suzuki 140 and the rest of the motors. In fact tey tested that the suzuki has 128 HP. Ask the disapointed boaters who changed from Suzuki 115 to 140 and noticed no difference.

By the way the Honda 150 won the test. Best engine in acceleration, fuel consumption and just not even 1 knot away in Top Speed from the fastest the evinrude 150 Dir Inj 2 Stroke. Yamaha and Honda where measured with
aproximately 159 HP.

The VTEC gives you a real boost. I personally have driven the BF 130 and the BF 150 and there is a big difference between those engines. In fact it was mounted on a aluminum Boat Buster Magnum but this makes no difference.

Get rid of the 130 and get the Honda BF 150 you wont regret it.

Many thanks for all your comments. I will be changing the Honda 130 in the near future but what for is the question. I still like the 5 year warrenty but have a need for speed!! Time will tell.

Any ideas what a 3 1/2 year 130 is worth and the best place to advertise it.

Find it hard to believe that the 4str Honda beat the 2str Evinrude, for acceleration!!

Was the Optimax 150 in the test??

the test in the link in my previous above, covers the following :

Evinrude 150 DI
Honda BF150
Mercury 150 Optimax
Yamaha Z150
Yamaha F150

yami and honda came off best it would appear.

Interesting that this is on Yamahas website and that there were two Yamaha engines, so that they were bound to come out on top.

Just like in Mercury's figures here the Merc 150 beat the Yammy 150. Its all down to the manufacturer telling you what you want to hear!!

Opti vs 4strokes

You'd be hard pushed to find a totally independant survey in my opinion. Maybe we should have our own!!

have to agree . For whats it worth the review was by a magazine so hopefully a little unbiased (chance would be a fine thing - to be sure to be sure)

I think it was Dirk who said " whats all the fuse about liesure craft and top speed." Most here seeem to be interested in fuel consumption first IMIHO against power

From what I can see there is no reason to believe that the report is biased. If Yamahas hadn't done well then Yamaha obviously wouldn't be preproducing the article on their site, but one of the other manufacturers probably would be.

The article seems to be very open about it's methodology and the assumptions that it makes. Having two engines in the test is no guarantee of success. Yamaha could have been the two worst which would have been really damning!
