[QUOTE=Hugh Jardon;211184] i had heard this by another means as well, apparently the optis are up on power, apparently the 200 is more like 217 whereas the etecs are down on power compared to what they say on the lid

're mapping to get the power down on etecs'...what a load of b**lcks thats why their new 300hp is a re mapped up version of the 250hp and as for 'etecs are down on power compared to what they say on the lid'.... the 225ho etec is 247hp.

The new etecs are a great engines, powerfull, light weight, economical and very reliable....but all this is of no use if the boat and engine has been set up wrong by the owner or dealer.
Im not into... 'my engine is better then your engine'.. but as a rule of thumb always check out the resale price of a engine to get a true indication of it.

As far as I am aware the HO engines are something quite different and Evinrude do not quote the real horsepower of these engines to get around Bass fishing rules - the idea is to package an engine with a lower rated horsepower than it is to cheat the system - this is only true of the "HO" badged motors ............... I raced against a 200HO in 2005 and no-one at Evinrude would quote a horsepower although there was a speculation! (we still won the championship!)
