problem with yamaha remote

Hi can anyone help me, I have recently upgraded my 4m avan from a 20 hp outboard to a larger 40 hp Yamaha with power tilt & trim to go with this I also purchased a 703 remote to go with this and everything was going ok until it came to putting the remote cables on at the outboard end, after fixing it all together as it looked like it should go, no matter what I do I can not get full movement on the remote between the throttle and the gears. I have included some pics.

Yam remotes can be....interesting....

I assume you're sure you've got the throttle and gears on the right way round so the gears move 1st?

The plastic end at the engine is wrong. Part number prefix 6h4-48***canny remember the rest.

Yes, dammit I should have known that. The correct one's longer isnt it.

Nope it's shorter and the thread for the 33c cable is above the hole. The end in the picture is a 663-48344-00, part required is 6h4-48344-00, final answer.

Thanks for that everyone. I was thinking it was a length problem but could not work out how I could change this after adjusting as much as I could, even started thinking maybe cables needed fixing in a different place as they enter the outboard. Can anyone tell me where I can get them?

As the thread has concluded.. can I ask a different question ? I have a lot of play on mine on the fast idle lever, as in, it will lift a good inch or two before increasing the actual throttle, Ive opened the unit and cant see anything thats adjustable as such, do they just go like that with wear ?

Yes!

I got a full set of the internal nylon bushings and it was like night & day. YOu'll even find the throttle response improves!

I'll have a look - I have a couple of leftovers, but can't remmeber which bits I didn't use.....

Ahh right ... the collar on the fast idle (inside) didnt seem to have any ?

What shaft size? It was so long ago I can't remember which ones I never used. There's one in the box might fit.
