Optimax 250 anyone?

Looking at options to power the new Rib,and been offered a Brilliant deal on a new 250 Opti,Pluss save me painting an E-tec! I'd be interested in seeing one in action on a 7m-ish if at all possible?
More than happy to pay fuel ect. Just mention I live in the ''South.''

Also info from owners would be of interest.Cheers.

Not the Big un's, only White! H.O's come in Blue but they're not on my shopping list.

Is that not over the max hp for a 6.8 ?

I am now it's working!

I've always liked opti's but they are quite complex, lots of injectors, pumps, sensors etc I don't want to start a debate but as with most engines they are great while they are working but expensive to fix and can have niggly faults that are hard to cure. As for the Opti, I like the 3.0L V6 growl, I like the build quality and to work on it's not too bad access wise.

So all in all, yes I am happy with it.

The whole Rateing thing is a little subjective as you know Jim,the Hull can definately take it!.. and some.
Weight,(and of course Insurance) ARE important.Both of which are fine.

I don't understand if it's rated at 225 it's rated at 225, I assume you either need a letter from the builder stating more hp is ok to keep the insurance company happy or you take a risk ?

Loved my 200.. I assume the 225 & 250 have the same V6 block but some other tweaks ?

A bit rough at low revs, but as soon as you open it up its an awesome noise. I had lots of people who were surprised at the pick up compared to modern 4strokes.

Old boats just out of the water so cant get you out on it (but it may be for sale next year anyway ....tempting to buy it back)

Get the opti - you'll love it. The new ones are by all accounts smoother at low revs as they changed the injection mapping etc.
