Hi Rogue Wave

Re Speed of our Ribtec 585

Well cookie will be glad to know that we have taken it faster than 6 knots ! However the truth is I don't know exactly how fast it will go, I have had the gps reading 38 knots and is was still accelerating !

What do you get out of yours ?

Rgds

The Camel with a Honda 130 struggles to about 35 knots (it's a heavy boat) but burns about 50 lph

The Scorpion with a Opti 150 we have clocked 52knots on the GPS and were burning 35 lph.

Cheers
Stuart

I owned a avon 620, had a honda 130 on it. Great boat with a great engine!!! Only the engine is a bit heavy. I had an yam 150 2-stroke behind it in the beginnig and the boat was a lot faster. With the honda behind it the transom was a lot deeper in the water than with the yam! so if you want to go fast buy the opti! and I don't know if the make a 150 opti but the avon sure can carry one!! I's a boat that steers like a knive on high speeds only when the seas get rough you might be more happy with a lighter engine like a 90 hp 4-cilinder.

If you got any more questions please let me know!!

Best regards arne

The opti 150 is the same block and so the same weight as the 135. So the avon could carry it even if it couldn't handle the flat out speed without developing some nasty habbits.

its also heavier than the 115 fourstroke so there is no weight advntage for buying it.
Performance will be slightly better, fuel economy a bit worse as opti is v6 the fourstroke a flat 4.

Mine does 72 mph on a GPS - hoping for 75 this year with a bit more fiddling!

Grease the trailer bearings and find a straighter bit of road and you might touch 80

Could the Honda 130 be any heavier? A Yamaha F200 weighs less.

Maybe I should go to another continent - I reckon I could get another 10 -15 miles an hour then!
