Finding the age of Yamaha's

Anyone know of a data base of what numbers go with what year?
The only plate I've found so far is on the transom bracket.
It says,
115AET
6E5 302858

P

That's how it looks on the plate. The 302858 is etched on where the 6E5 is printed. The p is stamped in the bottom left hand corner. I'm guessing the P will be the year?

Right think I may have answered this myself. According to this LINK It's the last letter of the 115AET which dates it as a '95.
Wonder what the P is then ?

You can call Yamaha (at least in the US) and they'll give you the lowdown on the motor, just give them the numbers you have.

But, the last letter is indeed the year. My 2000 ends in a Y.

The above info must be either wrong or not for my engine. I've found ref to yam 115 AET that where made in 1983. The search goes on.

Doesn't seem to be the case. Do they change for country to country?
I've found ref to 115AET's dating 83, 84 and 86. Unless they are all wrong (possible) then the last letter of AET is not the year.

E is electric start, T is powertrim, and I think A is the year, according to this: http://rib.net/forum/showthread.php?...aha+engine+age, your engine is 1993.

I reckon the P is the year, making it a '91. It also fits with the colouring.

I've fairly recently worked on a pair of AETs (both 80hps) of differing ages.

Do ya think mate? Not to fussed how old it is, just need to know the year. From Sam's attachment it does look like it is A.

Jesus why can't they just be like the old car reg system.

Its all so dealers could have them sat on they're displays for longer and sell them as the current year without the customer realising!
