Can't say as I'm struck with the look, but saying that I hated the design of the Disco 3 when it came out, too futuristic. The old style Discos look positively agricultural now, my point being; it'll grow. I'm disappointed that the "G2" tech is only available in 200hp & up, which puts it out of the range of most of us on here anyway, so it's a moot point. Now if they did a 130-150..................

I think it looks pretty cool, if you wanted to tone it down for your boat then just go for grey and black all over, that would suit any boat. Agreed that it's a shame that it's only 200HO up for the minute but the word is that it'll filter down, and hopefully for the Americans, up too.

Edit: RAVE has arrived for 250HO and 300

I was looking at the video they posted and thinking that if they where painted silver they would look like 3 Cyber Men staring at you

Personally I think they could have done better with the styling. They are very "stealth" looking. The only colour it would look good with would be Matt Black IMO

Looks great IMHO

Bit like the old angled BMW 5 series and as said the disco 3. Modern looks look, well, modern to start with, but then make old stuff look, well, old very quickly.

Saw a new slab sided Navy ship in Plymouth last week, looked futuristic but very cool, when it was alongside an older warship it made it look very old fashioned/last century.

Most people on here are over 40, i'd suspect a 20yr old would think it looks "cool". Just like my old man thought an optimax looked futuristic compared to the old clamshell mariner or a seagull!"

I think this is a big toe in the water for them, and this is really one engine filling 6 slots... 200HO, 225, 225HO, 250, 250HO and the 300. I notice that the brochure also still focuses on the whole range. Including the the current 200HP plus E-tecs.

I am sure there ia a 2.7 litre block or similar waiting to fill the 150, 150HO, 175, 200HP space if it takes off.

Whatever happens I suspect it will be at least 12 months before we start seeing them over here, and probably another 12 months before the lower HP version start appearing...

So I can bolt one on, run it for five years or five hundred hours all of which time its under warranty even though it's never even been looked at in five years?

So when it breaks at 499 hours and 364 days I can chuck it back to the dealer to fix even though they haven't seen it for that long?

Read the warranty conditions carefully . Had this discussion with my dealer when I bought the ETEC 90 .

The is no maintenance required but read the warranty terms carefully !
These are out of the US warranty terms :

Operate, maintain, service and store the Covered Outboard in accordance with the appropriate procedures as specified in the Covered Outboard Operator’s Guide. (Proof of maintenance may be required).

When I read the warranty conditions here in Europe it was stated that the motor has to go before each season to a dealer for a check and the stamp for the pre season check from the dealer was required ..

Yep.I know when I had mine, and in fairness I had very few issues. I still had it checked yearly (By the Main dealer/supplier ) as a matter of course, and part of my and general maintaining, and Safety regime. That and the fact you need a computer read out ...it may not have needed a full service...
.but always seemed to cost me a few Quid!
For someone to use ANY Outboard or Inboard for that matter on a regular...or even semi regular Basis in British conditions at Sea,and not go near go near it for Five years,or until it goes wrong maybe in a Dangerous situation!..and then rely on a Warranty would be Nuts!

So what your saying is it still needs to go back to a Stealer every year anyway which kinda dilutes the whole idea !
