Engine Service - Home or Away - Who do you recommend

For obvious reasons we need to get our engine serviced

We live nr Horsham West Sussex and are happy to trailer to someone/somewhere on the South Coast - or for a mobile service company to come to home

Any recommendations on who we should book, the average service price or perhaps more importantly who to avoid.

We don't wish to do the service ourselves

J

Mark Bleeker at MB Marine Services in Ocean Quay Southampton is very good and strips engines for race boats also, so can certainly get a great job here despite being some way for you

Ever considered servicing yourself? The Yammie 75 will be like putty in your hands. Cue the music from Ghost. If you throw yourself into most things DIY, then it would be worth considering. Helpful to have someone else there to take the weight when removing the leg to replace the impeller, but for the most part it's straight forward. Plenty advice on here to talk you through it. Bit like talking a Boeing 747 down in fog. Can you see a red flashing light!!!

Just re-read the question. Still worth attempting it.

I've used Fairweathers and MB Marine. Both excellent. But whatever you do, never go to Powertech Marine on Hayling Island.

It's been covered in one of my build threads I can't recommend someone that's given crap service and only see it as fair to highlight my point of veiw to others when the subject crops up.

Update: I thought I'd see what I'd posted about them all those years ago....I must have been very kind at the time as couldn't find anything nasty I said about them. I probably just wanted closure!

So all I'll say is try someone else, there are lots of other people to choose from.
