£5k for a Yamaha 90?

Oh hello... Yamaha 90hp Outboard Engine 2 Stroke | eBay

Am I missing something? I know these are the dog's danglies, but even though. This is 2008 engine, granted it looks mint, and you can't buy them new unless for commercial reasons. Price seems about a grand and a half off the mark.

BMC are selling them new for £6k.

Sounds way over priced to me, nobody is going to pay that much for a 6 year old 90hp 2s

Surely you have to provide some evidence of commercial use (e.g. Coded boat) in order to buy a new one ?

Regardless of that, it's not worth more the £3500 tops.

No still making them, technicaly you can not sell this to no commercial buyer as it is post 2006 model! Anything after 06 can only be sold on to commercial buyer as far as I know!
But he can ask what he wants nobodie has to buy it

This advertised engine shouldn't even be on a private boat if it is a 2008. Btw going by the model code it came from USA or Southern Hemisphere

So the seller is technically breaking the law in advertising it for sale to non commercial operators.

I'm not sure it is technically illegal to resell a second hand one for non commercial use? I thought it was import / first sale that was the issue.

One commercial always commercial.
If that was the case commercial operators would flood the market!

Davie's right Poly. I looked into this earlier in the year** and it is in the regs that if the build plate shows as post ban then by law they can never pass into private hands for all time.

**I was considering an unused/boxed 2013 Tohatsu 9.8 being sold privately.

Isn't it worth what someone will pay him? & I don't see the ' Illegal engine police' coming Knocking any time soon
Never had an engine no checked in 30 + years of boating.
Dont expect the powers that be taking much notice now either

From the info ive been given the the two stroke police are non existent. I was offered a price from two unnamed dealerships and I questioned whether it is ok to do it and their reponse was. There is no one checking where the two stroke are being sold. No one is policing it. So do you want a new yam 70 or 75 and when do you want it!!
