275n Lifejacket

Hi All,
My Crewsaver 275n Plus lifejacket is now 3 years old a has had noticable UV damage (but does not leak), and I'm thiniking of replacing it.

Can you give me some ideas of alternative makes, or is Crewsaver still the best?

I use it 3 times a week every week.

Regards,

Mike

If it doesn't leak, do you really need to replace it? Unless it's for cosmetic reasons and to look professional, I'd be inclined just to get it serviced and if it's still good - hang on to it.

If changing, I'm still a great fan of Crewsaver, but Secumar also do a 275N which is worth a look. I'm less of a fan of the Falcon and Plastimo jackets

Hi ian,
mant thanks for your reply. I don't want to change it for cosmetic reasons! Its due for its annual service in 3 months, and I just want some ideas if it does fail :-)

is the CO2 cylinder sewn into a pocket or can you get to it, if so test it yourself and that wil let you know if it will pass the official test.

If the UV degradation is only to the outer cover, my guess is you'll be OK. Hope all goes well.

I had my last crewsaver 275 for 5 years and it was heavily sun bleached as its used nearly every day, really comfortable to wear, when i inflated it on its last test it had a slight pin hole in the crease at the top of the jacket so i bought a new one .... good jackets.

Viking are pretty tough too. Maybe worth looking at but crewsaver maybe cheaper.

Has anyone tried Englands? We are thinking of stocking them but have not come across them until now.

Had a blue Crewsaver 275 for the last three years. Worn it every day in the summer. Looks pretty faded. Recently got a Spinlock - looks a lot more pro IMHO

I had a couple of Crewsaver life jackets that had become faded and scruffy, sent them to Crewsaver and they replaced the outer stole at very reasonable cost.
I'm not sure if they still offer this service.

Crew saver do a wipe clean lifejacket cover so any oil etc wipe off rather than stain the codura fabric the do lose their colour from sunlight exposure but the jacket is always clean also reduces the chance of oil attacking the inner bladder
all our work jackets have these covers
