We have single figure daytime temps. It's raining, hailstoning and windy. Like February. Fkkn horrible. I despair!

Could be worse though - I could have a huge RIB depreciating under a tarp...

I was sat here (25 miles East of Mollers) in perfect calm, as I was reading the thread the wind went from force 1 to 7! (and no I'm not that slow a reader)
This Rainfall radar - Met Office
is what just happened

um make that gusting to force 8!
and how's that for a confused windmap!

Been in / on the water since first light doing some seine netting (scientific purposes).... had to head in for thermals, wooly bear etc after a few hours.... 3 degrees, wet and cold. Fire lit and whiskey in hand....starting to feel a bit more human!

I was driving down to Penzance from Helston and the wind was F2/3 from WSW at 17:40.
At 18:00 it was F8 gusting F10(68mph) the wind was now blowing from NNW and the temp had dropped from 9 degrees to
5 degrees in sleety hail.
The back curl in this developing depression sure has a sting in it's tail forcing down air from high up causing the temp drop and violent wind gusts.
An old Cornish saying: The difference between Summer and Winter is 10 degrees. ( not today though )

Walked out of my back door today into sunshine, birdsong and calm. Went back inside, came out ten minutes later into a dark squall of lashing trees, hail and cold misery. Ducked back in, came out ten minutes later into sunshine, birdsong and calm... go figure:
