If anyone in Dorset wants some apples I have a surplus of 500 russet apples in my garage - they're technically eating apples rather than traditional cider apples but they do make a light and fizzy cider with very little effort required.

We had a massive crop of apples this year and I've simply run out of time sorting them all. They were picked last week and all boxed up and dry.. Free to collect if anyone wants then send me a message!

That 500kg of fruit has shrunk to 250L of juice. Unleashing the yeast today...

Way to go Willk
looks like you have everything in a row

How do you tell if a apple is a cider apple or not?
taste test?

A cider apple will be VERY sweet. It will often also be VERY tannic (bitter) but can alternatively be acidic (sharp). In every case they will have a flavour that will carry over fermentation and give character to the hard cider.
