Easy ....................

Its a strange arguement this. Everybody has fixed the cross hairs on the 4x4 group but nobody stops to ask about MPV's.

MPVs are not necessary, they return poor MPG, require additional resources to build, weigh the same a 4x4s so cause just as bad damage in an accidents and they look UGLY as SIN! Take the fiat Multipla and the Citroen Xsara Picasso - WHY BUY A BLOB TO DRIVE??

However, the Chancellor has decided to ignore the two most polluting industures as far as greenhouse gases go. Air travel and the gas produced from landfills.......why.....cause the politicians are ignorant and do not act for our best intrests, only their own.

Methane, not CO2 is the most damaging greenhouse gass.

I'm no 'Anti', both of our cars are 4x4. But, no way are MPV's as juicy as 4x4's. Our's do 25ish, one will nudge 30mpg on a run. My Old Man has a VW T4 Camper 2.5TDI that does 36ish and 42 on a run. It has the Aero dynamics of a barn door. It's dragging all that extra transmission around that does the damage with the 4x4's.

Tell me about it!!!

If planes used so much fuel how come you can fly to Rome for about 10???

Just looking at a new exec jet that has hit the market. It will carry 6 people and all their luggage 1500 miles on the same amount of fuel my RIB will go 400 miles on - and at 470mph!!!

Is it not more about the crap that jet engines pump out than the amount of fuel that they burn? A jumbo is a big CO2 pump in the sky, shoving right where we don't need it.

They can only pump out what they consume.

Interesting to note that some "greens" claim the contrails have more of a greehouse effect than the gases - if that is the case the gas effect is minimal - they will be banning clouds next!!!
