Be good to see you Bruce (mobile noted)

The Inshore Solent forecast on Metcheck is still showing F3-F4. It's also showing bright sunshine although it won't feel like Marbella : very low temperatures so if anyone's in doubt, it should be a lot more comfy on the sofa today!

Folly Jolly Sunday 16th

The annual RIBnet Christmas Run to the Folly

See first post for details!

Anyone meeting at Pompey; we suggest being at The Lightship for 12.00. Leaving for The Folly from 12.30. We'll just blast for The Folly then as it is going to be chilly! It might be good to arrange a buddy boat by pm or post before ye go! Arrival at The Folly from 1.30 pm and leaving before dark! (It's almost the shortest day of the year!!!!!!) We often use Chn 77 for comms or Paul's mobile 07790 551442. If you are happy to have your mobile number in the public domain, please post (otherwise pm or 'phone Paul). Worth having the drysuit/thermals/helmet/gloves etc. etc.

some pics from today - bit nippy but a good trip with good company and food and a good blast back to Pomey in company with Merlin
thanks and merry christmas to everyone especially Kathleen & Paul (the chocolate oranges were an inspired touch)
1 - view from the Folly at dusk
2 - preparing to move off after lunch
3, 4 & 5 - back down the Medina

no pics from the run across the solent - too busy steering to shoot!

Thanks to Kathleen for arranging this Jolly jaunt ! A bounce across the Solent followed by a Turkey Curry and some Terrys Chocolate orange. What could be better on a cold December day.

1. Where are we going ?

2. The entrance to Cowes.

3. Some lumpy stuff mid Solent.

4. Entering Cowes. Neil Harvey and Nos4r2 enjoy the wash.

I needed that run today
was... most interesting going from Southampton WAter over to Pompey this morning, some real big holes just opened up in front of us

But a surprisingly quick run over to Cowes considering that, and a good run back.

Thanks for the company, Kathleens organisation and the choccies!

Hope you all have a good Christmas, and a happy 2008

Neil

PS.

After a good day out there is just one thing I forgot. How do you wash your boat down when your hosepipe has frozen up. I eventually got a half decent supply of water to run the engine through after my son spent ages twisting the pipe to free the ice. Now I expect in the morning I am going to have a very frozen boat.
Something to plan for if I go out again when its below freezing.

PPS. Who was that waving madly at us on the M3 on the way home between Winchester and Basingstoke.

Leave the down hill end of the hose open after you use it so that it drains.

That's a nice light at the Folly.
