I expect that there may be a few different trips that evolve from this thread. Some may appeal, some might not.

Of course if you really want to be self sufficient you just need to get on with it and do a Gurnard!

I certainly wouldn't dismiss the idea out of hand. However, I seem to be in something of a "Goldilocks" situation, vesselwise...

I'm good crew though and I can pack small, so thinks for the invite

You'd be welcome aboard Imposter. Bring your own sleeping provisions and whisky*! However is your wee boat too small - surely the smaller the boat the bigger the adventure?

* See this is how the creative small boat owner gets round the limited storage space for beer - bring your drink more concentrated!

Oh aye - when I'm on overnight hill treks, I carry a cask strength malt - packs wee, hits big.

lol ! ensure VHF & other safety equipment is not carried too! Robinson Crusoe - springs to mind - if they don't want the backup of A support boat - why should the RNLI risk their life's !

hopefully this does not offend anybody ! It's not meant too!

Ok - maybe above is overtop ! but I think you get the drift ...(of course SIB's you can row so no drifting, I struggled rowing to mooring never mind a few miles in one)

You usually find - the support boats will either leave later, and/or act like sheep dogs - keeping behind the last boat making sure every gets to there or follow them back to safe haven, the benefit of a bigger boat doing latter is that they might take you to as crew so you can continue - so your weekend is not 100% wasted - in event of break down...

There was a bloke on here back in the day - his mob were the then masters of this sort of malarky. They took casualties too - SIB to SIB towing makes for a long day - his videos below. EDIT: He is Zodiacman, and still looks in now and then. He sold his SIB and bought a kayak - musta had his fill of SIBs - ROFL!

That said - I've done the long days in mine, and she's only a toy.

The well respected Zodiacman. Launch out of Carsaig just about every year. He no longer does it but his mates still come to Tayvallich and enjoy the many destinations around.
