As for speed..Im with Poly..and will go as slow as the slowest tortoise .. even if it means displacement speeds ..it aint a race ..its an adventure
That's a very kind offer Gurnard

But even I know that space is limited in a sib. I will just have to look out for a bigger sib and engine in the near future.

Is this just a 1 off cruise for next year? Or will there be a few throughout the year?

If there is demand for others - why not ! if you need help with red tape let me know - I have access to sailing clubs across Scotland and should be able to get use of facilities if I ask nicely...

I think maybe - two stage approach - a sib day for newbies and weekend or longer later on the year.

I am hoping organise something along below:

1) a Trip from Largs /Rhu to somewhere.
2) A trip to perth
3) A cruise out of St Andrews
4) A cruise on Forth somewhere
5) Loch Lomond Cruise/ Camping

I don't know west coast so I know, poly and co knows this and brilliant that they taking lead - if need help in area - I can get RYA Scotland to help ...

Nothing to stop others organising small or large, formal or ad hoc cruises anywhere whenever they want, as often as they want. And likewise if it was a success nothing to stop it being repeated either at the same place or moving around in the future.

My aim for now is just to understand the level of interest and constraints we might have on accommodation or location.

And please don't let this idea impede any plans you might make on your own or with others for adventures here or elsewhere.

It's a 5 hour drive for me to get up there so wouldn't really fancy it just for a day! I'd happily do as long as fuel supplies will allow!

yes - weekend up in west coast is good ... might be good to have an event more central belt of Scotland - for folks to meet , iron out issues and get use to cruising in group...

NO OF PEOPLE:1
PREFERRED AREA(S): CLYDE (Largs
PREFERRED MONTH(S): MAY / JUNE / SEPT yes anytime
PREFERRED wild camping

As far as I know the original OP said:
"launch on a Sat mid morning, go somewhere appropriate for ribs in the current weather and then arrive at an overnight stop before reversing the process (possibly via a different route) and recovering mid afternoon on Sunday".
So it's not just a one day event

Agreed, surely it has to be longer than one day. It's a long way to come for some 👍👍👍👍👍

Agreed on overnight, it's too far for the day for me.
