It may be worth trying to get hold of someone from jpm charity committee.....you never know...but it could turn into a monster...

Good PR fit them and fits well with their day...adds a power side..but the serious racing boats will be going as quick as the ribs....race!!!

Why have I only just noticed this thread? I need to go back to specsavers.

Excellent idea Wisper, I'll add the link to my sign right now, I've also lost very close family members to this terrible disease.

Excellent vid btw and that soundtrack is class.

How much is a reasonable sum to charge for a seat?

Count me in too. Not sure which boat I'll be in-hopefully the Ballistic.

Does this open up any legal issues-if it doesn't then I'll be doing that too. Assuming the Ballistic's ready (it had bloody well better be!) I'll have a couple of spare seats.

We may be out to watch, but this year (2012) we walked to Hurst Castle with breakfast to watch them all fighting the tide.

The rag and stick-ers might be a bit upset with the wake of multiple ribs if there is not much wind. I speak as a former rag and stick man, in therapy now, but having occasional lapses

Mmmm , not sure if mixing it with 2000 yachts is such a good idea - depends when we intend going out. If mixing it with even the late starters it does get busy - got the tee shirt However, if we start at shall we say a gentlemanly hour, the fleet will have spread out, minimising potential 'difficulties'.
Still cannot see the race organisers or the coastguard etc being very accommodating for what they may well see as complicating factors. The last time I did 'the race' it was amazing the number of mayday calls that were made

We could move it to Sunday 26th May? That would give everybody Saturday to prepare and travel etc...

Does that clash with anything?

The yachts go west first and travel anti- clockwise starting at regular intervals from 0500 to about 0900. I would not see a problem running clockwise, or with the fleet as I can see Whisper is not running a race so sightseeing at slower speeds in the main fleet areas. I agree we have seen some heavy seas over recent RTI races with many maydays, but would this RIB fleet run the Island if such weather prevailed?

And just to add to the above, I really don't want to have any accidents or to see anyone get hurt, so I say let them have their day and we can have ours on Sunday 26th May

Alex, not trying to steal your thread, but I think someone has to say it - are we going to have a few Ospreys together on the day

Could we do the week after the RTI instead? It'll give me a bit more time to finish the boat.

I've had a chat with Nos and we have come up with the following...

Suggested theme is Pirates! Yarr!!! (Not the Somalian type Nos)

Suggested seat donation payable to our Just Giving Page http://www.justgiving.com/ribnet or the Macmillan Collection Cans on the day is £25 but we will leave this up to your conscience

Suggested date is the 26th May 2013 but may move due to the weather

I agree, not too happy about dodging round 2000 sailing boats on June 1st!
Rather keep to a small number of ribs enjoying a day out?
I have 2 dates in mind-April 20th & May 18th, anyone up for this?

But...but...but...I've got a bright orange airsoft M16 and some combat trousers...

Spoilsport

But seriously...

I think Whisper's date is pretty much spot on-we really should do it while kids are on holiday. We can stop and harass people on the beaches for donations then Did anyone say Osborne Bay...?
