north stack is likely to be lively on an ebbing high tide. stay as close to the rocks as you dare - dont worry its deep clear water right in close there - and you will go through the shortest possible route of the overfalls. if you look closely on google earth you can see how the overfalls fan outwards from north stack itself

Cheers! Great advice, I've herd that since the last time we went round in a calm day and off the cliffs about 400m out was like mountains rising up and huge holes appearing in front of you from nowhere.
I know the Strait very well but not the rest.

yeah, north stack is known locally as the washing machine! the waves pick you up, turn you then drop you into a deep hole. keep calm, play the throttle and wait for each wave in front to get to your same level before moving forward. its exciting stuff - been through many times like that whilst the sea either side is perfectly calm!

Those Victoria dock Mullet will ave all gone now coz they ave been turned into sweet & sour fish balls... All the seaweed as disappeared off the tide flap gate also. looks like Fu's got the first two courses sorted

Yes it does creep up on you, good fun though if you are sensible. People will be wary of going in close to the rocks there but as you say nothing below surface just sheer drop from cliff face. Drop a set of feathers around here loads of pollack
