The Littlehampton ribsters are planning a trip to Beachy Head on Saturday with lunch at the Brighton Marina.

But Sunday I am hoping to do a trip on Seahawk 3 around the IOW and will call in Cowes & Yarmouth. Weather pending of course

Well our trip out today did not go so well. As some of you know we had a minor problem on the final run out at the end of last season with an intermittent reverse problem. So, saved our pennies up over winter to put the boat in for some TLC at an approved centre last month ready for the new season. Got it back last week so, with the sun out today, off we went to our normal launch site at Calshot.
The tide here can run fast on the slip but not usually a problem with a couple of you (one to sort the car & one to look after the RIB).
Anyway floated her off the trailer and the tide started to push us along towards the lifeboat walk way, went for reverse to move out - nothing! Turned the wheel full lock, added a little power RIB went completely the wrong way! Not only was the intermittent problem with reverse now terminal but they had connected up the steering up back to front . Anyway to cut a long story short I got very wet, the fantastic boys at Calshot RNLI joined in to help recover the RIB and get the kids back on dry land safe (many thanks again all). So after washing down and changing we completed the 200 mile round trip with no boating. Hope the rest of you all had a better time out!

Sorry to hear your news Neal. Should have come up North with us!

I hope the reverse problem isn't terminal as it'll cost you some very big wonger to put right, hope it's control cable issues. Sounds like you'll be having words with the service guys! I have a saying (dosen't everyone) If you want a job done correctly......DIY it.

They're nice guys at RNLI Calshot .

Anyway some pics to show you what you missed out on: Look out for the last one...The ultimate TOW truck
