Ah, well https://trafficscotland.org/ is the place to go!
For live updates https://twitter.com/trafficscotland @trafficscotland - where you'll be the first to hear if a dog drives a tractor on the M74!

I can't see any planned total closures that will affect the normal Glasgow - Loch Lomondside (A82) - Crianlarach (A85) - Oban - Easdale route but there are various temporary traffic lights etc.

i'd suggest ditching the A82-A85 and go via the A83 then A85, much better road and quite a bit quicker in practice.

i drove to oban last week A82-A85 and drove home A85-A83, was quite a bit quicker and much less hassle that the 15-20 miles at the top of loch lomond with the poor roads/road works.

cheers

Weather update and road traffic

weather forecast
I normally offer an opinion on the Wednesday prior to the event and if necessary update Thursday
The forecast I look at are
XCweather for Easdale for the distance out.
Theyr.tv ( not dot net) for nearer the time.
a perspective from 7 days out.
I reserve judgement at the moment. Tuesday, Wednesday there is to be some wind but the sea is currently quite calm. Friday shows a quick sharp blow but it is from the east and this will not really affect things longer term. What tends to happen is the wind moderates as it gets closer to the day It also becomes earlier.

Road closures - I will make enquiries. I have to head across to perth on Monday so will experience for myself.

Tony

After the last hour I just spent in my garage I may have bigger problems than traffic jams- I now have 5 (call it 4 as tomorrow is Sunday) days to source & fit a new steering cable (hopefully not the helm as well...) as I have a "no teeth" spot around dead centre as a result of increased friction, even tho' I spent all winter moving the steering to make sure it didn't seize.....

Quick search here and it would appear the innards are not replaceable on their own. Which is going to be a sphere-ache as The steering cable is the "mechanical backbone of all my assorted copex ducts, and if memory serves means I'm going to have to unbolt the engine or A-frame to get the f...lipping thing in..... then the space inside the console is at best minimal.....

Anyone got a tiller for a 60Hp clamshell I could borrow for a day or so?

Tony - make sure you are past Loch Earn overnight between 1900 & 0700, when the direct road is closed....... At least by there you have a half sensible diversion option!

We've got 4" of snow at 900ft, 'kin Baltic.

Saturday is a long way away though.

My pal sent me picture of her back garden in Keith, Morayshire, she has 2" of snow where the kids paddling pool was last week. ALOT can change in a week.

A day is a long time in Scottish weather. Was at a biking event in Inverness on Sunday morning, weather was calm broken cloud and some sun...by 15:00 it was windy, Baltic and 3 inches of snow.
