Pics around the local coast....

Not posted in a while, but I've had Sea Drive out a few times already this year - most pics are a bit repetitive since I have taken them before at other times..... however, some of our recent trips have been slightly different

A couple of weeks ago, myself and one of the folks from Neyland Yacht Club left Milford just on Lunch headed out to St Annes on passage to Tenby for the afternoon. As we got to St Annes, we saw the fog that had engulfed the Haven that morning holding a few miles offshore.
Wondering what it was upto, we went out to the fog and found that it was headed North and it appeared to be going offshore - great stuff. While we were there, I got a few snaps of the local ODAS weather buoy which uploads its info here:-

You can see the fog only going about 30 metres infront of it - the whole thing felt well odd.
Next pic looking back to St Govans Head doing around 25 knots - perfect seas, like a mill pond. On this trip, we passed 1 large cruiser, 1 large sailing boat, a small potting boat, and 2 jetskis (which buzzed us as we were at anchor having lunch)

Finally, the main reason for going to Tenby was to take a peek at the new RNLI lifeboat station which is being built just a bit further out than the old one. The construction is quite some sight, and most of it is accessible by water only.

On the way back, we passed St Govans Head, and wondered why Linney Head was a whiteout - a few miles before hitting Linney Head, we met up with the fabulous fog.
Really interesting pictures here I'm afraid

Sufficed to say, it's days like these when a radar would come in handy......

Yesterday though, I met up with Paul Wooton (woot) from the forums, and we spent the 2hrs of 'freeflow' at Milford Docks going out round Skomer Island and back.
Not quite as good as the seal pics, but this bird is a Puffin

Anyhow, we went through Jack Sound with a few hrs before high water with some good wind over tide - I was too concerned with working the boat at the time, so didn't actually get any pics, but for about 50 metres, we ploughed through some very high, but short distance waves which were breaking with the massive current.

The back end of Skomer was a bit more tame, so I got some pics, a nice water wall headed to us, and these odd lumps of water raising out of nowhere. There was very little breeze, this is created by currents, which is fascinating stuff.
Last pic is of the Dale Sea Safari RIB headed back to Dale after a trip out to the Islands.

The rest of my pics can be found on the gallery on my website link, and in a day or so, I'll upload the video clips as well for viewing....

Hi Alex

Some nice pics.

Hope to get out with you when we get down last 3 weeks August.
Maybe get a few longer passages done.

Regards Gary
