Off the top of my head I think the max nose weight for a disco is 175kg, but I'll stand corrected on that, I know it's not 350kg.

[emoji848] 90% of the time we’ll be towing with a discovery. I towed with the avensis to the north coast as it’s a lot more economical.
Would I be correct to assume the trailer may need adjusted to suit each vehicle?

Sometimes just adding or moving weight forward or aft will do, as mentioned above, every vehicle is different and my rough estimate of 10% isn’t really viable. Each manufacturer will have their own figure

Quick google found this, nose weight of the disco looks like twice that of the avensis [emoji848].

Thanks all [emoji106]

You must have nose weight, too light and the back end of your trailer will drive the tow vehicle. You will only notice if the back end starts to fish tail it will be come virtually impossible to recover. I’d recommend as high nose weight as your tow ball will take but you can still manage if you need to lift the hitch. You can add more or reduce my packing and moving stuff in the boat. Fuel etc

Your trailer hitch will also have a maximum nose weight, this may be less than the vehicle max nose weight. Just checked my hitch & the max is 150kg which is lower than the Disco max weight.

I know the vehicle and hitch weights vary and i think the modern removable hitches have reduced nose weight capacity but I agree the more nose weight (up to a point) the more stable the trailer. I regularly tow a goods trailer and always try to load it so it sits the tow vehicle down a little on the arse and the trailer is usually stable.
Likewise my boat trailers i like to be on the max nose weight.
I guess its harder to judge if the tow vehicle has self levelling suspension though

I’ll look into the nose weight and get it measured for my trailer , fwiw the setup towed well as pictured. It’s looking like a max nose weight of 75kg for the avensis.

75kg nose weight on a 750kg trailer is fine ,but 350kg on a 3500kg trailer will see the front wheels off the ground maybe or some dangerous steering ability , go with common sense ,if you are reasonably fit and cant lift the towbar thats too heavy ,if you climb aboard the boat and stand next to the engine and the nose rises then its probhably too light ,have a juggle with those ideas or resort to the bathroom scales and a lump of wood ,
just getting back on post ,super looking setup !

T6 t32 204ps 4motion DSG Highline on VB air suspension, full Dirty Weekender conversion. They only do a 2 litre 4 cyl engine now. The 2.5 was discontinued with the T5

Great combo to have. I thought the rig looked a bit big for a 1.9tdi.
