It is even more amazing watching it back on video. It seemed like 10 minutes or so at the time, but to see that we went from grounded to floating in 3 minutes is quite something. That's a lot of water.

Hehe its like you were all afraid of sinking in 50cm of water

(note to self, anchor independently when drying out with massive tidal range)

Jeepers! You lads had it sporty. It IS all wotsits fault - he would get in trouble in a puddle. That's like a wee shallow Corryvreckan - lots of potential for disaster there...

It looks like you had a lot of fun though, and that's what you need - lots of fun and a little danger to season the mix.

View from Land

Well - you guys certainly know how to make what is normally a boring wait for the boats to float a bit more interesting!
Here's what it looked like from the land.....
Sorry the quality's not great but they were taken on my phone and then cropped.
In a time line...
1) Where you started from on the sand.
2) 19.24 - "this could take a while"
3) 19.25 - "ah - we may float soon - still time for a photo though"
4) 19.25 - "hmm - this may get a bit tricky"
5) 19.26 - "we may need to push ourselves off a little"

1) 19.26 - "oh sh** maybe we should have thought about this whilst having our last crepes.
2) 19.26 - "at last - Martini II starts to float"
3) 19.26 - "it's nearly over"
4) 19.27 - "where did the other boats go?"
5) 19.28 - "now, what was all the panic about?"

Not so much panic, as rapidly responding to an unexpected situation as it unfolded.

I like the view of the mooring buoy in the last photo. It's been pulled clean out the water and is hanging upside down .
