Yeah, lotta Forts, don't blame me, you lot built them (to keep Boney out).

The Swilly was an important deep water haven and as such was under British Naval control until 1938. Jellicoe stashed the fleet in there in the Great War. The outer batteries had "modern" naval artillery and are very complex and impressive structures. After that we rather let them go a bit, as you can see . Still, one sold a couple of years back for 11m and the (glass) Pilkingtons use one as a holiday chalet - s'reely narce, yah?
