Anyone got a fuel sender float?

Trying the long shot here as its not Rib related

I've got a Polaris Ranger that has a dodgy fuel sender, the fault is actually with the float itself, over time it has absorbed petrol and no longer floats so the gauge reads empty all the time.

All I need is the float but Polaris don't sell the float or the sender unit separately, you have to buy a whole new tank with sender unit installed at a eye watering price of £360 + the Vodka And Tonic...ouch. I can't find a float anywhere in uk that suits. I can get it from the U.S but

So... Anyone got a float off an old sender unit or suggest an alternative?

Picture of float

It's about a 2" wide

That's Outrageous!

Dear God, it would tempt a man to fill the tank every morning and save the £360...

More seriously, what's stopping you cheating and jury-rigging a float?

I pretty much run it full all the time but the beeper and flashing lights to alert me of low fuel annoys the shit out of me.

It'll be a bush fix if I can't get my hands on a float that fits.

Just thought someone might have an old sender unit with similar float in their "bits" box.

Can you not frig the wiring to confuse it into reporting 'full'? I'd be in there with side cutters leccy tape. 😉

Something like this...

170mm Universal Fuel Level Sender 5 Hole For Alloy Fuel Tank Petrol Tank Cell | eBay

Either swap the float to fit or cut off the new arm and braze it to the existing arm??

I could but that would send my OCD into overdrive, I have this thing that if a gauge or button is there it MUST work.

Yep, that's the back up plan. That's actually the cheapest one I've seen. Cheers.
