Squeeky steering

Steering is squeeky went manoevering at slow speeds (ie turning the wheel a lot). Cable steering (not hydraulic)- noise seems to be coming from wheel. Any ideas?

As you can tell I'm fairly new to this- is there a Haynes equivalent book for RIBs?

Cheers

Squaky steering

inside of your console you will see a cable running up through your helm and back out the other side. that is your steering cable. many times the cable will lose a lot of grease over time and becomes "sticky" and "squeaky" try loosening up the hardware holding the cable in the helm and give it a good coating of marine grease (or white lithium grease) this should stop that sticky squeaky feeling.

good luck!
