Scorpion 8.1 Shaft Length

My good buddy in New England has a Scorpion 8.1 and is thinking of re-powering the boat. I'm all but certain the boat has a Long 20" shaft engine but the factory told him the 8.1 needs a Xtra Long 25" engine. Can anyone tell us what shaft engine the 8.1 should get?

WE have a 8.1 with a XL Shaft Yamaha 250 four stroke
the engine was set up high but it cavated so had to be droped so the cav plate was level with the keel
so i would say its got to be XL
