Northcraft 5.8m Information please.

Guys,
A friend of mine has been offered a Northcraft 5.8m rib with a yamaha 90 hp outboard. It is just under two years old and in good condition. Any comments on Northcraft would be appreciated.

Northcraft

Hi Scotty

I have heard mixed review about northcraft, some say there good and some say there unconfortable etc. I would reccomend taking it for a spin and see what you think. I dont think there very good in a big sea.

This silence should actually be telling you that Northcraft is not too popular here on the mainland. If you were to ask about Avon, Zodiac, Scorpion, Humber, Ribeye and other UK makes then for sure you would have had lots and lots of responses.

Hi Scotty,

I have no personal experience of the hull, but RIB International reviewed this RIB at Warsash in April 2001 issue. It praised the solid lay-up of the hull, but the set up of the test craft seemed to be stern heavy with a 115hp 4 stroke on the back which led to a few questions. They recommended a 90hp on this hull, so the one your friend is looking at may be better balanced. I suggest you get a copy of the article from Rib International, as unfortunately it has not made it to their web site.

If you have difficulty getting a copy, PM me your address and I am happy to lend mine.

Rgds
