Normandy Cruise - Job Done

7 days of boating and I'm feeling well tired

Day 1 Ipswich- Ramsgate-Boulogne-Dieppe

Day 2 Dieppe - Fecamp

Day 3 Fecamp - Honfleur

Day 4 Honfleur - Cherbourg

Day 5 Cherbourg - Alderney (just ,not sure I like the Race)

Day 6 Alderney - Yarmouth -Sovereign Yacht Harbour - Dover

Day 7 Dover - Ipswich

Fuelling:- Ramsgate Cherbourg and Sovereign had pumps ;

Jerry Cans-Boulogne and Dieppe needed a taxi;Fecamp and Alderney were an easy walk Honfleur a little harder;

We managed to get Hotels every where except Dover where we arrived at 11.30 p.m. so that was the night curled on the boat.Alderney was looking very dodgy but we finally had some luck.

Dieppe has some good waterfront restaurants ,Fecamp not as good but a nice marina with friendly staff;Honfleur although touristy is just the setting to take your rib and enjoy one of the many good resataurants.

Well done (and green with envy).......

Looks like you had a brilliant time.

You would like the Race even less in a sailing yacht whose top speed is 6knt. You don't have a choice to fight it you just go with the flow

Next time you're over that side nip into Le Harvre and pop into the yacht club - they used to do a fruit de mere to die for as starters - help yourself to as much as you liked - you didn't need a main course

Interesting about the Race ;we saw a sailing boat obviously miss Alderney and then turned around into the tide-;we did'nt see it in the harbour.It was blowing a 5/6 at the time and although we timed it for slack water we battled for an hour through big seas at very little speed (other than the tide).The boat seemed out of the water more than in but once your there you can definateley not turn back.
