Newbie, Avon Searider 4m

Hey all,

first off, I'm a newbie here, I'm from Washington State, USA, and I purchased a 1991 Avon Searider 4m with a honda 4 stroke 45 hp engine. I love this boat! Takes the waves great and seems pretty safe!

Got a few questions for you all.

My boat is one of the older style where you sit lower (4 back to back seats) and there is actually a windshield. Not a console type... Is there any place that I can purchase a replacement windshield? Mine is kind of faded/scratched.

Also, do you think I have enough power to pull a water skier, wakeboarder, or a tuber? if so, where/if can i get one of those aluminum "towers" that mounts on the back, that you hook the rope up to?

Thanks!

Brian Pal
Is there anything special about this boat that I need to know?

Avon Searider

Hi
I have the same boat as you except mine has a centre console but I have the same engine bolted to the back
You should be able to tow a medium sized waterskier
You need a towing ring that bolts all the way throught the transome
The cheapest way of replacing your windscreen is take the old one off take it to a perspex supplier and get him to draw round it and cut one out
Doesnt really matter whether you can see through the windsreen as you can look over it - it is only a spray deflector really

Hey,

Thanks for the replies and the welcomes!

It has white tubes with grey accents. I'll have to try and get some pics soon for you all.

She seems to handle pretty good to me, but I don't have anything to compare it to... Pretty small and agile though...

How heavy of seas would you all feel safe in taking this little 4m out in?

Thanks!

Brian
