New low-price fuel in Jersey

I was speaking to one of the new owners of the fuel berth in the New Elizabeth Marina this afternoon. He said that the partnership is committed to low fuel prices. Currently their diesel is 78p a litre and their petrol is 82.9p a litre. This is 16p a litre cheaper than La Collette. They can provide at least 10,000 litres in one filling.

Errm, actually 11p less (for petrol anyway)

Still, it's well worth me nipping round the corner to fill up. 3 miles further than Gorey pier, but a staggering £24 less per tank

I thought you said you paid 98p for petrol yesterday. Are you discounting the 4p you get if you have a Rubis card?

Nup, 92p. But good point about the card, we're down to 7p difference now.

That's interesting as last time I bought fuel from La Collette it was 97p; he must have lowered his price in response to the New Elizabeth Marina prices.

Just checked, I paid 97p at la collette at the end of march.
Good that there's some competition now, la collette have admitted to me in the past that they keep diesel right down to compete with guernsey but are clawing back their £400k investment through petrol sales instead.

Think of it as 100 tank loads of Martini fuel and it begins to look like a bargain. You must have burnt almost that much over the last few years.

Lionheart

Matt,

Really ??

Is Lionheart not a wooden boat that had an epoxy coating or similar??

1400 hrs on the engines ??

Maybe at the right price, which I don't think it is anywhere near but not a boat to be trying to sell again in a few years when you become bored.

As for the fuel, you can negotiate with Fuel 24/7 by phone and they will match Elizabeth marina pricing (both TOTAL) and the man dials in and changes the pump price right before your eyes. The other advantage is no waiting for them sodding one way marina lights and high water !!!

Victoria Fuel may give you 4p / litre discount (if negotiated) plus another 4p from Rubis if you have a card.

She was built in Guernsey, grp moulded with balsa cored deck. Designed by John Askham, assistant to Peter Thornycroft when he designed the Nelson pilot boats. This is a later reincarnation of the Nelson, designed a few years after he came up with the Weymouths and Humbers. So a good pedigree and a solidly built boat. The hull and superstructure have been Awlgrip'd maybe the epoxy story developed from that.

Also the Perkins have 400 hours, not 1400, fitted 2005 with new shafts and props. I've been in the engine room, you could eat your dinner out of there!

Been on the market for a while and been told I can get it a lot less than the asking, since the owners a £150,000 public servant I'm hoping he'll pity me
