Kill Cord

I hadn't seen this one before, thought it was worth sharing to remind us all again, the importance of using the kill cord. These guys were so lucky, notice how close the out of control boat was circling past them.

JESUS!

not seen that before.

I think I'd have wanted the chase boat to be bit closer before leaping as well - he didn't land on the stern by much!

I think the wide angle lens of the GoPro makes his leap look further than it is but your right, he did only just make it. Just watching the video again and at 2:09 the engine mysteriously trims in and sets the boat on the plane again, increasing the speed and changing the heading, which probably contributed to them not being run over in the water.

IMHO those Bass boats are nuts, and not in a good way. He doesn't seem to be making much of a helm input when it lets go. There's so little of it in the water when it's on the plane at full chat tho. There was a guy with one of these on Lough Derg last year and it looked like a big tea tray with a (large) outboard on. Not for me ta.

I agree, as with all boats you need to know the limits of the boat, he was distracted for a second and had to make an overdue heading adjustment to avoid the marker buoy yet didn't reduce speed, the high heel angle caused the aft end of the boat to lose it's grip in the water causing the hook/skid/slip (whatever you want to call it) resulting in the crew being ejected as the aft end grips again and abruptly stops the sideways movement. Driver error IMO.
