Introduction

Hello all,

Have been a reader of this site for some time. Am a keen enthusiast of RIBs and have just gained a 5.3 Avon Sea Rider hull and am now merrily restoring her to bring her into fully fledged use. She was in a sorry old state, but after a good clean and survey of the tubes, it's not as bad as I suspected.

I'm keen on learning as much as possible about 2 stroke + 4 stroke outboard mechanics (I've always had an interest in mechanics, and now it's found it's way to the sea). If I ask stupid questions, bare with me.

My other interests are SAR and I follow this genre of RIB work with a great deal of interest, especially in the Solent as it is my home stretch

Looking forward to chatting to like minded powerheads.

Is that in Pompey, Cosham?

Wont be able to do this Monday as I am completely brassic after wiping myself out over Christmas (living a little hand to mouth at present).

Will definitely be up for it in the not so distant future

Oh aye,

A proper wet boat, i've got a few things to do to her yet:

Gel coat (got product),
paint (got product),
Tube repair (bicycle puncture repair kit acquired from halfords ),
Rub strips to apply (on the hunt for enough to go around the full 5.4 avon tubs),
Console to repair/recondition/replace (old console came with it but is in need of some work (seat is slashed as well as wooden base being a bit damaged)
Fit a-frame (spotted one for £200.00),
Fit Nav-lights (Got),
Fit Steering and throttle cable for the yammie (Got),
Fit Engine (have eyes on one for £2,000.00, but will have to raise funds for it)

So, a nice little list of items to get on with over the next 1-2 months
Fit Radio + aerial,
Fit Fish finder,
