Dog on tubes

Is it ok to have my dog in my rib, I am concerned she could puncture on the Tubes. They are Hypalon.

Her claws may lightly scratch the tubes, but will polish out.
Might be a good idea to trim her claws before taking her out.

Not all dogs enjoy boating - my current one gets very scared about being a speed in open water. Loves pootling around in a river a slow speeds though,

Beware of them trying to jump out if they see something exciting, and think about recovery - dog lifejacket is good idea for the lifting strop.

I would advise not trying it for the first time solo, but take someone to look after the hound.

Good luck

I take my collie out with me, she doesn’t mind it. She likes to lean on the tubes and look out, she won’t jump off though. No marks on my tubes.

Invest in a good lifejacket for the dog.
Consider DOB (like MOB.. only furry) and how to lift a large dog back in if you have one.
I'd say clip claws a few days before to give the cut edges time to wear to a rounded profile.

Tube protection!

There are some interesting Youtube videos on swim ramps for dogs. It's amazing what you can do with some anti-fatigue matting and some pool noodles.

Introduce your dog gently and build up the fun. We started in an inflatable in a river. Always try to end an introduction on a high note, don't do too much at first and back off at the first sign of stress. Boats must = fun!

Also remember that you are in an open boat and so dogs can suffer exactly the same sort of exposure problems as humans - only they can't easily tell us that. You have to be as concerned about the sun as you do about wind or rain.

A tube cover made from sunbrella will be good for dogs and cats as well as protection from sunblock.
