Avon Searider 6m - what is this deck fitting?

Never seen one of these before. Initial thoughts were filler for under deck tank but didn’t know they built them with that. Any ideas?

They did make a version with a built-in tank. Maybe @stresspill knows? See his thread on restoring one.

Might sound like a daft question but is there anything on the underside of the hull that corresponds with it? My yacht had a similar looking tube under the front berths. It actually housed the log, but the top of the tube was allegedly above the waterline so you could clear a foul whilst afloat. I never had the balls to test that particular theory.

I have a similar one on my sr6. It's under the deck tank fill up. On mine that metal tube is replaced with a flexible hose that takes the fill up higher to the console.

I have a big aluminium plate on top of my tank. I see that you have some other arrangement and the tank might not be as accessible as it is on mine. That is if there's a tank at all.
