Ah, we have the Thames on our doorstep (almost!)

Never taken current boat on the Thames (4kts speed limit), but I used to take my old SIB on the river. £53 to license a 3.6m inflatable for the year, tho' - No license or speed limit below Teddington.

I quite often come over to Southend for lunch

When you see me remind me to tell you about the time i had to come over from Sheerness because someone was being swept out to sea from the pier head and they could not launch the lifeboat!

Anyway, essex boys, i'm up for a blast over at some point and a meet-up. I've never made the East Cost cruise yet, always seams to clash with something, but not too many miles away.

Daniel,
Back in March when we met up on the Isle of Wight cruise we discussed a Calais trip, are you still up for it sometime?

I have launched from Folkstone before, but the slip and parking was a nightmare. Have you launched from Dover?

I'm interested in seeing your piccies, Steve, so don't let Rockey put you off posting them - he doesn't need to look at them if he doesn't want to!

Richard wants to know what make the steering is. (Whatever it is, there'll be at least 3 people who will tell you you should have got x, y or z instead .)

Yep, sure am.

Dover is not that bad, bit narrow though. Can't remember what states it's usable though. I prefer Ramsgate (which is awful, but once you've mastered it) or Margate at HW.

The sooner the better really, but i think it'll be a bit cold for a few months for that sort of distance, unless you want to persuade me otherwise???

It's only aboout 30 miles isn't it? That's about the same as Portsmouth to Yarmouth and back

Daniel,
I think we should make arrangements in the Cruising section. I will start a new thread.

not butting in, and don't really know what your on about but Dover - Calais is only 20miles.

Did it earlier this year. Dover slip is very narrow, I think it must be usable at most states of tide as I used it pretty low for an 8mtr. The only problem was the swell, if its in the wrong direction it's a baxxxard.

Yer i'm being a 'southern fairy' i know and i take it all back - lets go in December, it'll be fun.

In my defence I was talking more about for me from here (Margate) which would be a 100nm round trip which is quite a long way.

See new thread here http://rib.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3349
