Newbie from Llandulas

Hi my name is Dave

Been trawling the internet for months now, trying to decide which set up I want to proceed with over the winter to start enjoying the sea in March, I keep going back to a 3.2ie Honwave with Tohatsu 9.8hp as I feel that I can set this up on my own, (weight is an issue, which is why I am transfixed on these)
I have enquired about a basic certificate to make sure I know what Im doing, as safety is a factor for me, I intend to use Colwyn Bay beach once I have registered the boat, is there any tips or thoughts on my dream, thanks

Hi Dave, welcome to Ribnet
Colwyn Bay is a nice area to go explore, and round the Little Orme’s Head into Llandudno Bay and the Great Orme’s Head too. might be worth looking at the Menai Strait too, plenty of interesting cruising and can be more sheltered than the opens bays along the coast[emoji106][emoji41]

Hi Dave and welcome.

Noticed in another post you've asked:-

This is how I understand it:-
If you want your posts to be in the same thread as this one, the easiest way to do it is to "Post Quick Reply" to your own thread. Keep doing that until you want to start a new topic in a new thread. Then choose which "Forum" you wish your new thread to appear in - as you are wanting a SIB, that's where you should have the majority of your threads/posts. Hope that helps.

Is that Leigh as in Wigan?

Yes it is, although few people in Leigh recognise Wigan Lol

I'm sure it works both ways.

Getting back to "What SIB" I think it depends on how you will be using your sib, who with, what for and in what conditions.

The 9.8 2s Tohatsu package you mention that is available from a dealer. Is that a new Tohatsu? Is it a definite? The only reason I ask is, legally new 2 stroke OBs can only be sold to proven commercial operators.

Thats what I am contemplating over, keep looking at Honwave T32 and Quicksilvers, or any other 3mt ish Dinghy that anybody recommends, all I want is to enjoy the sea (mainly on my own) may take up some basic fishing, but dont want to crawl about everywhere

IMO - if weight is an issue, you will be mostly solo, you don't need a flat internal deck and you are powering it with a 9.8, I'd be favouring the T32
