Hi all,

New member, and new to ribs, have just bought a cheap second hand one and am looking to be the annoying new member asking many questions!

I'm not 100% sure what i've got, it's an Avon, with a Mariner 40hp, but beyond that i'm not sure of year or model. I get the feeling the boat may have been a day rental thing at some point, and I dont think the engine has ever been on the boat before.

I'd love to put some photos up and see what everyone thinks I might have just bought

Sr4 by the look of it if it measures around 4.2m overall its an sr4

Having some trouble identifying the motor at the moment, which is annoying as I have no idea what I'm doing without a manual! Its had several coats of paint over the years covering everything, I used some remover to try and clean up the serial plates but you can no longer read them, all I know is its been bright yellow prior to its current black...

does anyone have any idea of the model/year of the engine??

I think motors missing a fair few bits. It just tries to start as soon as you connect a battery too, scared the crap out of me, glad my fingers werent in it
