Replacing rubber handles on a quicksilver sib

Hi wonder is somebody can advise me please.
I have 2 old rubber handles on my sib that have broken and need replacing, i have bought replacements but i need to remove the old ones first. I have cut away the rubber handles but have the outer rim remaining.
Can i use a hot air gun to loosen the glue or should i use a hair dryer or any other advise. The sib is not made of PVC
Thanks in advance

The heat softens the glue and makes it very easy to remove. Takes a fair amount of heat too, so a heat gun is the best tool.

I have found the easiest way to remove glue without removing material is to use chemicals and scuffy pads. 3M calls them hand pads, and the courser weave holds the glue better for removal/disposal.
