The was to rationalise the spend is that you'll get a lot of that money back at the other end even when used prices rebase so ultimately you're not paying much more than a cheep week away for several years of great days out that can be done at the drop of a hat as and when the mood takes you.

My total spend is just under £4K but I'll easily get half of that back and even if we just use it a few times a year over the next 3 to 5 years it'll be money well invested and probably cheaper over that period than doing other getaway days. It's just the kick in the pants of the forward spend on day trips but when you consider the price of a family outing to places like Alton Towers it's really a bargain and a no brainer.

Yeah that was kind of our thinking as well. If things had gone to our original plan for the summer holidays, we would have almost had our outlay justified this year alone.
Now it looks we will just have to try get the time/conditions for shorter trips. But of course the beauty with our setups are it can packed away over winter in the shed then dragged out at anytime for years to come

At least you have already made some great fun memories for the family.....and what price can be put on that anyway

Unless its into a rat/mouse proof container I would be wary of keeping your boat in the shed over winter. Little critters just looking for a nice warm home with a sweet tooth for pvc will be happy to move in when nobody is looking. Spring could become expensive!

Sadly no, life threw me a really nasty health shaped curve ball recently so its all stop on that front for the moment while I'm poked & prodded.

Its sitting in the lounge behind the sofa so the only rat that can reach it is me.

Hope the poking and prodding is successful. Thanks for the rodent reminder. I've just been and refreshed the traps. My plan for winter is to store the boat along with the tent in the camping trailer as that has been mouse proofed.

It's still July (admittedly only just) and I've still got plans to fulfil

Likewise, good luck with the prodding and poking Olman2.
