Reading the article in the link above he was the original Black Stig and was killed off (not literally) when they flung him off the aircraft carrier, then the White Stig was born. I would be inclined to believe the post that says he's someone called Aaron now!

can't be an F1 driver as they have shown that they take a different line round some of the corners..unlike the stig???

It has to be someone who holds a superlicence, as they have previously driven an F1 car around the track.

There are a number of candidates. The way to identify him would be to study wrists and necks of former F1 drivers.

The wrist is the most commonly seen bodypart of the Stig - identifying him as a white male.

I think Damon Hill's hair is too dark - his body hair around the wrists would be more prominent than the Stigs.

is the stig just one person? there is obviously some kind of special mystique about this secrative character but I have always assumed that the reason for the anonymity was they could use whichever driver was free on the day without the viewer getting upset that the test wasn't comparing "like with like".

correct and the "stig" can't be chainged as and when, as he is always the same size.
