Outboard engine Charger unit

I Have twin 40hp mariner pull starts and would like to introduce a battery on board for lights etc,
I heard that i would need a charger unit fitted to one of the engines to enable a trickle charge to the battery.
Does anyone know what the rough cost of this unit is and how easy it is to install.
Cheers
Pete

No idea about yours but I think a lot of engines, even little aux ones, have the facility built in to take a feed for battery charging? May just be a wiring job to connect it up?

Outboard battery charging.

What you need is an outboard rectifier, you can get one from Abel Marine. I have been running one of their units on my Osprey for many years.

Connect the unit to the lighting/aux output on the outboard (mine were the ex RNLI Mariner(yammaha) 40's) then connect to the battery. Very simple
to fit.

The unit is fused and comes with a meter to see charge rate.

I have just fitted elec start so my rectifier unit may be on an auction
site near you soon!
