Mine is set in to console, if that is what you mean by flush mounted.

M421 flushmount kit

Yes it can - I got a flush mount kit from marinescene (actually I got them to order it as a special and they put it up on their website). Template size in the kit is incorrect but there's a correct one in the 421 manual. Relatively straightforward to fit if you are happy jigsawing a hole in your console.

See http://www.marinescene.co.uk/product...lush-mount-kit

You could probably do it without the kit but kit makes it easier.

Hi there

Yes the IC-M421 can be flushed mounted.
The flush kit is an optional extra of about £21.

Some other radio's have this kit included in the box so no extra cost
Gives you more money for beer!

Cheers

Nice plug Jon!

Ok then - I'm still thinking about the radio and am a fan of Standard kit - what's your recommended DSC radio for a rib console (i.e. not really bothered about a command mic type feature) ?

Thanks

Simon

Simon,

Since you asked
The direct head to head radio for the M421 is our GX-1500.

About the same size as the M421 but has a much bigger display.
One of the biggest grumbles I used to get about the M421 is the lack or a rotary channel change knobb, the GX-1500 has this and not up and down buttons.
Price is about the same but the GX-1500 does include the flush kit and a front pannel cover like you would get with a Navman.
The unit, like the Icom has three year warranty.

Hope that helps.

MES in Bristol should have.
Could try mail order from any of the normal ones like Yachtbits, JG Tech, Nautiquipe.
If your in Pompey the Marine Super Store

By mentioning these few I favour non just a guide worth a web search

All the best
